May 17, 2012 - Cesky Krumlov
Day two in Cesky Krumlov. We got a tour of the castle, which was quite beautiful and also a tour of a classic Baroque Theatre. On the way up to the castle, we had to hike up this huge hill and then cross a bridge. Below the bridge were bears. The castle was absolutely beautiful and had a bedroom that I could definitely see myself in, oh, if only.
The theatre was so very cool. It had a classic stage with all of the original set effects in place. However, it was absolutely freezing in there. They said that when people would come for performances, they would bring cushions and blankets and were dressed in their warmest clothing.
How could you not fall in love with this place?
We had the rest of the day free after our morning tours.
Elin and I played a little on the piano in our hostel.
Evan found an army surplus store and was in 7th heaven with his findings!
Caleb found an old communist hat ... I think he was going to give it to his brother.
The column at the city center of Cesky Krumlov.
Caleb and I went on our own little adventure that afternoon and went up to the castle gardens.
They were set up like one would imagine a castle garden to look like ... manicured hedges in various patterns and shapes. Caleb and I played a little hide and go seek...yeah, we're adults. haha
Can you find Caleb in this picture above?
Can you find me in the picture above?
That night our entire group went our for a last meal together at a local brewery.
It was so fun celebrating our trip in this city! We might have scared the locals a little bit.
Our final group picture with everyone together.
After we returned from this trip, most were going on separate trips since we had the time to travel.
Our fearsome five. Love these guys!
We even had an impromptu dance party in the restaurant.
I swear that we cannot take a picture anywhere without someone trying to photo bomb!!!
Yep, he found a pillar here too!
Katie and Alyshia found some cigars...don't ask.
Can you climb a pole ... with an arrow that points ... up?
We ended up back at the Apothecary again that night for some drinks.
Perfect way to end our trip to Cesky Krumlov.
On the walk back to our hostel, we had to cross a bridge that overlooked the castle.
Everything about Cesky Krumlov was perfect. I wish we would have had another day there.
