Kutna Hora, Budvar Tour and Cesky Krumlov

May 16, 2012 - Kutna Hora, Budvar Tour, & Cesky Krumlov

We were still in Kutna Hora and went back to St. Barbara's as a group.
I took this picture on the way there, it almost looks fake.

We are HERE!

Inside of St. Barbara's ... it was spectacular.

I wish we could have seen this the night before because the sun was setting and hitting that stain glass window perfectly and would have been a site to see.

We hung out outside of the church for a while after we got done with touring the church.
Kutna Hora used to be a silver mining town, we found a cute little shop that sold all sorts of silver ... I treated myself to a ring, it's one of my favorite things I bought in Europe.

Our next stop on our travels was to the Budvar Brewery ... it's safe to say that there were some very excited people in our group for this part.  I promised my beer to Laura before we even went there.  As we were walking up to the brewery, Jed came up and threw his arm around me and said "Tara ...." I interrupted him and told him I had already promised my beers to Laura, he just laughed!

This was our tour guide at the Budvar factory, she was hilarious!

That's a lot of beer!

As we were walking to the next building it started raining ...
not just raining but down pouring ... we were soaked!

The brewery was quite impressive, I had never been on a brewery tour.

Now for what everyone was waiting for ... beer time!

This was my favorite part of the tour ... the bottling and packing area.
I really could have watched the machines all day.

After we were done with the brewery tour, we went to Cesky Krumlov.
A fairy tale city if there ever was one!

Yay! Another drain cover.  At this point, everyone was helping me find them!

We stayed at the Traveler's Hostel, it was cute and almost seemed hobbit like to me.

Food, oh how I loved the food over there.

After dinner, we went to what became our favorite little place ... the Apothecary Bar.

They had hot chocolate but it was not just normal hot chocolate.
They gave me a glass of hot milk and then a stick with a chocolate cube on the end.
It was Belgium chocolate that I stirred into the milk, it was the best ever!

I really don't remember what was going on here but I do remember that we could not stop laughing!

First night in Cesky Krumlov was lovely, we had a great time and I learned a very good lesson that day as well.  When I was packing for this trip, I thought that I would just bring my small backpack and my small rolling suitcase ... big mistake!  Cobblestone streets are aweful for suitcases, I was so afraid that it was going to break ... plus it hurt my hands.  Big, giant backpack from this day forward!
